Guest Quarters: 10 Proven Ways to Get Unstuck - July 16, 2009

Thanks to the creative gals at Hatch Network, we have the following tips for when you just feel stuck.

—-
Being stuck is something that happens to everyone. It wouldn’t be so bad if we had all the time in the world to wait and see things work themselves out on their own. Truth is, we don’t have time when we are running businesses, raising families, and taking care of our physical health to just stand by. When we are stuck about major decisions, it’s been proven that making lots of “smaller” decisions frees our blockages and allows us to get back in our groove.

Below is a list of small decisions and action steps you can take right now that will boost your confidence and get things moving ahead again. Notice the clarity you experience as you cross off each item from this list. If you look at this list and feel overwhelmed, pick one item and set a timer for 30 minutes. Keep going if you get on a roll! Trust that your productivity here will benefit all other areas in your life.

Clean Your Fridge and Your Freezer. Toss or eat anything over seven days old. Condiments over three months old that have not been used in the last month should also go. Everything with freezer burn is out. Old ice has a smell, replace it. Don’t waste, put stale cubes in plants.

Bag Up All Canned/Boxed Foods you haven’t used in six months and take them to the food bank. Other people are hungrier than you, help them out.

Purge Your Ratty Underwear. Get rid of those tired bras and panties, and buy 3 new pairs of undies. Make it a game to find them for less than $20.00.

Clean Your Junk Drawer. Toss ink-less pens with no lids and other “stuff”. Put all like items together. If you can spend about $300.00, hire a professional organizer to help.

Pay All of Your Bills Now, even if you can only make the minimum payment. Put all bills on auto pay and make a list of when they are due. If your bills are on multiple dates, change them to come in batches so you will always have a mental expectation of when to expect payment. Example, bills are always due on the 15th and 29th.

Shred Your Confidential Documents. Invest in a paper shredder, and use it. If you don’t have one, search online for one you like. If money is tight, find a used one for $20.00 or less. If you have one that does not work well, upgrade.

Check Your Credit Score and Fix Any Trouble Areas. FreeCreditReport.com is a great place to accomplish this task. If you’re overwhelmed by the online process, pick up the phone and call a customer service representative. They are there to help.

Update Your Profile With a New Photo on Facebook, LinkedIn, Plaxo, Twitter, Biznik & Hatch Network. If you are ambitious, check out PixelPipe.com – this is a great tool to update all of your social networks at once (you must have accounts set up first).

Put On Your Comfy Clothes And Take a Walk or Run. Breathe. Look around. Notice all of the other people who co-exist with you. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone.
