Fresh and Chic: Paper Squid/Roxana Illuminated Perfume - June 13, 2009
I love Paper Squid! There are so many times where nothing but a personal note or card will do & that’s where Paper Squid comes in. This small company is owned by Karyna Amador and she loves what she creates! As much as possible, Karyna tries to use reclaimed, repurposed or recycled paper. So she’s environmentally conscious! You don’t have to feel like a tree was cut down just for you to send a note to your mother-in-law. Or ex-boyfriend. Just don’t waste one on your nasty neighbor across the street that acts like an overgrown 7th grade bully. These are too nice.
Pictured here is her I Love You But You Piss Me Off Sometimes card. Actually when you look at the card, all you see is the beautiful I Love You…you have to peek inside to see the rest. Smart, eh? It’s one of Paper Squid’s original designs and was a winner at the Craft and Hobby Association 2009 show! You can have one for $4.00. Four dollars! Tell me you can find one at the drugstore that’s this cute. You can’t…and that’s that.
You might also enjoy their linocut art prints in various original designs and sizes. When you’re looking for something for your blank wall and just can’t think of what to hang there, these are lovely, fun & will give your friends something to talk about.
Stop on over at Paper Squid and tell ‘em you saw the article here…at the center of the universe. Enjoy!
Now when most of us think of buying perfume, we think of department stores or cosmetic stores but we don’t necessarily think of handcrafted perfume. That’s right…handcrafted perfume is one of the fastest and most inexpensive ways to create your own identity. When someone compliments you on your fabulous fragrance, you don’t have to say that you picked it up at the department store counter.
Roxana Illuminated Perfume is owned by Roxana Villa and she’s truly an amazing artist when it comes to her craft. She carries both liquid and solid perfumes. Her liquid perfumes are formulated using organic grain & grape alcohol, handcrafted tinctures & other accords made of essential oils. Every batch of perfume is created by hand…to ensure perfect quality.
Honestly…there isn’t a scent that I did not enjoy thoroughly. Some of my top recommendations are Lyra (the heart of this is jasmine & ylang ylang). This is a very sensual and relaxing scent and is one of my absolute favorites. If you like floral notes, you might enjoy Vespertina..this was a delicate floral with a woodsy base. From the opposite end, I loved Sierra which reminds me of a forest…without being overpowering. Also very beautiful is Aurora. This perfume has notes of mandarin, spice, jasmine, rose & amber.
Order glass vials of their perfume for just $25.00. These scents are long wearing and long lasting and you’ll be happy with every second of sniffing these exclusive products. If you’re looking for that perfect gift, they have gorgeous perfume lockets…this is something that I haven’t seen many places at all so be sure to take a look!
