Indies of the Week: Spa Sisters/Jane Joss - April 19, 2009

One of my biggest failures in life is that I cannot grow anything. If you go on vacation and ask me to water your plants, trust me…they’ll be dead when you get home. It’s not that I will do anything to them…they’ll just die under my watch. When my parents would travel a lot, my mom would always ask me to water their plants. She wised up eventually…and just stuck with fake plants. They still have fake plants. Could I have scared them off real plants forever? It’s possible. On the other hand, my mother-in-law tends to send us lots of plants and flowers. Does she have faith in me? Hmmm.

For people such as myself, there is an outstanding alternative to the possibility of plant murder…and that’s Jane Joss. Jane Joss is an alias for two sisters-in-law, Alyssa & Joslyn Krismer (they’re married to twin brothers). Their line is called Sweet Leaves and they look like plants, function as decorative plants…yet are made with designer fabric. The black & white print that you see here is called Midnight Toile and each one contains three branches.

The choices of fabric are beautiful and will go with any decor. I put mine in a vintage milk bottle on the mantel above my fireplace and they look stunning. These would also be ideal for a bedroom, bathroom, family room or any room. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I can’t think of a better gift. Check them out today!

We’re always excited about featuring businesses from our neighbor to the north…Canada…and this next company is also a family-related one. Spa Sisters is made up of two sisters (yep) Kerri Foster Roberts & Tricia Foster-Mohan. Their website is chic, lovely & will have you ready to do some serious pampering.

The sisters tell shoppers, “Not your typical “go green” line of spa products, we design a luxury line of oh-so-pretty bath products that are made with pure and natural ingredients. From tub truffles to body meringues (and practically anything else that your skin quenches), we carefully select fair traded ingredients and whip up batches of these delectable little treats – all by hand!”

You know…I was in a little bath shop over the weekend and was doing some sniffing around. And…the stuff just did not smell that good at all. Everything had a plastic scent. They could learn a thing or two from these sisters!

For exfoliation, I tried their Pomegranate Berry Souffle Scrub. The perfect amount of sugar & it leaves your skin soft and not oily. For a fresh spring/summer scent, I’d recommend the Body Wash in Green Tea & Lemongrass. You’ll want to moisturize after your shower or bath & I loved the Body Meringue…especially in Toasted Coconut. It’s perfect perfect perfect! I love a coconut scent (so summer-y) but often find that coconut scents can be really “off”. Not this one. I’m a fan forever.

I’m kind of a fanatic about hand lotion (it might be an addiction…I’m not sure) and I loved the Spa Sisters Hand Lotion in Citrus Sorbet. I might have a lip balm addiction too (not sure…I should probably be tested) and I loved the fabulous lip gloss in White Chocolate Mint.

Get yourself over to Spa Sisters and take a look at their adorable pink website with products that are spectacular for your body as well as your mind! And if you’re lucky enough to be in Ontario, the girls do spa parties. I hope some Wickedly Chic readers will be able to take advantage & have one!

As an additional bonus, readers can use code Spa Chic at the checkout and receive an additional 10% off of purchases.
