Fresh and Chic: Fantasy Bath/Janel Andre - October 23, 2008
Chilly evenings (especially here in the midwest) call for luxurious bath taking. We all need to remember to pamper ourselves and Fantasy Bath is a perfect shop to start browsing in for your bathing needs.
If you haven’t discovered the world of bath bombs, you’re missing out on some fun. Plunk a gorgeous bomb in your tub, let the water run over it & you can have yourself an amazingly scented & moisturizing tub time. At Fantasy, these are called Bath Fizzies. Shoppers who are careful about what they put on their skin will be thrilled to make friends with Fantasy Bath. Located in Georgia, this company has high standards for their ingredients & I just love that. All products are free of sulfates, parabens & detergents and are never tested on animals. According to their website, “We care deeply for the environment and use only inert ingredients that degrade completely in the earth, which is why we use no detergents or sulfates. Although the stories circulating about the dangers of sulfates are being debunked, considering the irritation of sulfates is a fact, we choose to err on the side of caution and do not use them in our products. Our foaming agent is more expensive, but it is inert and is gentle enough for those allergic to soap. We use Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate in all of our bath products. What is the difference between this foaming agent and the more common Sodum Lauryl Sulfate? Although the names sound similar to another, the two molecules are quite different from each other. Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate is a large molecule ingredient. Large molecule ingredients are considered to be mild, gentle, and non-irritating, as they cannot penetrate the skin. In contrast, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a small molecule ingredient, and is capable of penetrating the skin, which can increase the occurrence of skin irritation.” Fabulous news for all of us bathing beauties!
The question becomes…what scent(s) do I choose? With over 50 to pick from, it’s not easy. We tried a dozen of them at Wickedly Chic & each one was a winner. If you prefer powder, most of the scents can be purchased in 3 pound bags of the soft stuff. My favorites were Snow Wonder (cranberry, apple & yuzu with a hint of mint & amber), Blackberry Brew (blackberry with a touch of cinnamon, clove & vanilla), Currently Unavailable (black currant) and Bayou Voodoo (sandalwood, vanilla, oakmoss, jasmine & plumeria).
Along with the bath fizzies, Fantasy Bath has shea lotion & bars, dead sea salts, scrubs, soy candles and body/linen sprays. Stock up & enjoy some “me” time.
Continuing along the taking care of yourself theme, we have Janel Andre, an indie company whose slogan is “celebrate yourself”.
Janel Andre has a number of excellent products in their home spa collection. Begin with the Body Rinse which can be purchased in unscented or Eucalyptus & Lemon (both essential oils). Move on to exfoliation with either a sugar or sea salt scrub. The yummy sugar scrub is scented in Chocolate Brown Sugar and the sea salt scrub is perky Ginger Zest. Don’t forget to moisturize…you can invigorate yourself with the Morning Blend Body Cream (bergamot, tangerine, lemongrass & orange) or Sugar N’ Spice Body Cream. Finally, don’t miss their Sensual Pleasures Massage Oil…the scent is fabulous (jasmine, rose & sandalwood).
A lot of us are starting to think about holiday gift giving & I think the BodyCare Mini Spa would be a perfect gift for that person that’s difficult to shop for and maybe needs some good old pampering. They also have custom gift baskets where you can pick & choose for your recipient. Be sure to sign up for the Janel Andre mailing list to receive special offers.
