Indies of the Week: Seabands/Bath Desserts/Everything Shea - August 7, 2008

We loved these. Seabands are where it’s at and that’s why ya gotta check ‘em out. Created by a mom and daughter team in Cohasset, Massachusetts, Seabands are one of the most comfortable & great looking headbands that I’ve ever come across. Plus…they make a bad hair day into a good one…and believe me…I have a lot of bad hair days. Just ask my family.

What makes Seabands different is that they aren’t something that you just slide on top of your noggin. These have an expandable elastic band which makes it easier to wear them & adds to the comfort.

Plus…you can have them in different sizes (toddler, child & adult) and you can also choose from a multitude of patterns. With a nod to the upcoming fall season, they even have a Pumpkin Floral. Shoppers will be amazed at the variety of fabric that is available for your Seaband. You can have your Seaband in a reversible fabric..or have it monogrammed. There are so many choices.

This indie business also has a heart as they have contributed a portion of their profits to the development of a new playground in their community.

Back again to pay a visit is one of my favorite bath companies, Bath Desserts. Owner Christie Wanlass contacted Wickedly Chic to let us know about their new “Green” line. Yes, everyone is ecology-minded lately & it’s a good thing. You should see my new re-usable shopping bag. I’ll have to post a photo of it. Obnoxious…but it makes a point.

Back to the Bath Desserts. They use hemp seed oil for their products because it’s just good for your skin & has been proven to have lots of nourishing properties.

I love my scrubs and the new one from Bath Desserts contains a simple list of ingredients: Hemp seed butter, hemp seed oil, pure cane sugar, vitamin E and essential oil. I have been using the Lemongrass scented scrub & I love the fresh & natural scent along with the limited amount of ingredients.

If you’re looking for a new candle (and I always am) that smells great & is good for the environment, look no further than Bath Desserts for their Eco-Friendly Soy/Hemp Candles. The Tangerine Sage scent is out of this world. Very lovely & relaxing. Buy one.

You can read more about Bath Desserts & some of their other equally fabulous products in our previous feature. Keep your eyes peeled for more new, great smelling, good-for-you items from this company.

The website is very simply done but the products stand out at Everything Shea. One of my favorite new products is hereâ?¦their MAXIMUM Cocoa Butter Glycerin Soap. The site says that itâ?Ts loaded with cocoa butter & youâ?Td better believe it is. The delightful moisture in this soap is evident & it also contains shea butter & organic dark chocolate. To make it even better, the fragrance notes are cocoa extract, tonka bean, vanilla, coconut, musk, and chocolate. Yum! Make sure you order one of these.

If youâ?Tve read the many studies that claim that women who smell like grapefruit appear to be years younger (years & years & years) then youâ?Tll need to snatch up a bar of the Yuzu Glycerin soap. Yuzu is Japanese grapefruit & is the perfect refreshing scent for a hot summer day.

Lip balm lovers will adore the moisturizing lip balms enriched with shea & cocoa butters. Try them in scents such as Maraschino Cherry & Raspberry Lemonade.

I know that readers will love Everything Shea and their great productsâ?¦another bonusâ?¦theyâ?Tre vegan friendly.
