Indie of the Week: A Woman With Scents - May 15, 2008

Let the name draw you in…A Woman with Scents. It’s fun & catchy. The woman is Carol Broatch and you can find her making candles & soaps in Charlotte, TN.

She produces hand-poured soy candles that will make your home smell better than anyone’s in the ‘hood. In which case, maybe your neighbors need to place an order too.

Don’t let the simple website fool ya. There are some awesome products here starting with the pillar candles. I have a thing for pillar candles ever since I snagged/stole/lifted/pickpocketed this beautiful candle holder from my mom. I burned Iced Green Tea scent & still have this one going. For summer, the scent cannot be beat. This is a blend of green tea with coconut & gardenia. I like coconut, I like gardenia, I like the two together & they are even better mixed in this scent. Don’t miss it.

Carol also sent along a pure beeswax votive which burned beautifully & was lovely with its natural scent. Other delicious fragrances include Jasmine Patchouli, Pumpkin Harvest and Spicy Apples and Peaches.

I can also rave about her cold-processed soap in the Erotica fragrance. This is a beautiful blend of patchouli, sandalwood & ylang ylang. Took me right back to the 70’s.

Check out A Woman with Scents for reasonably priced candles & soaps. There’s a link to Carol’s blog where you can see a photo of her new workshop.
