Beautify Me: Portland General Store/Aunt Nancy's Soap - November 8
If you are thinking of Thanksgiving, you are probably thinking of delicious food and comforting aromas. This week in Beautify Me, you can enjoy an essence of Thanksgiving all year long from Portland General Store. I just love this indie store. This shop features fabulous arts, crafts and more from local artisans from Portland, Maine. I recently had the pleasure of sampling products created by the shops founder and proprietor, Lisa Brodar.
Diving right in to fall, I tried Grandma’s Sweet Potato Pie Body Creme….. YUMMMY. It was smooth and creamy with rich shea butter and soothing goats milk. That’s just half of what this delicious body creme offers. The aroma of nutmeg and sweet Maine maple syrup were a huge bonus.
I love the packaging and design of Portland General Store…it feels a little like grandma’s house and it’s a lot of fun. My husband was also able to enjoy a little of Portland General Store by using their Man in the Mountain Whipped Shaving Butter with Cocoa Butter. I’m happy to report is was a lovely lathering success. Full of delectable cocoa butter, it provided a perfect moisturizing base for a silky smooth close shave!

Another great find from Etsy is Aunt Nancy’s Soap. I just love a great big bar of handmade soap and at Aunt Nancy’s ,they do their bars up right. I also love the fact that they use a lot of olive oil…an ingredient your skin will just love. First I tried Lavender in my Best Wheat Germ Oil Soap. It’s a vegan bar and the lavender is quite mild. It’s perfect for an every day bar and mild enough that I used it on my children as well.
I also enjoyed the FaceSoGood Fragrance free facial bar. The store owner over at Aunt Nancy’s claims that this bar was created for “mature” skin, but I think it’s perfect for every skin. It’s completely mild and ultra smooth.
