A Girl's Gotta Eat: Black Hound NY- October 11, 2007A warm welcome to all Wickedly Chic foodies! Here lies our newest column, A Girl’s Gotta Eat. And yes, she’s gotta. You’ll find the best in charming & independent food producers right here…every week.
Our first featured business for all you sweet lovers is Black Hound Bakery. My family had a blast testing all of their treats & believe me, this bakery is ready for Halloween!
Black Hound is a Brooklyn, NY bakery & they make some wicked fine sweets.
I asked Debbi from Black Hound to tell Wickedly Chic readers more about their bakery, “We make everything from scratch. Most bakeries bake from premixes—not from scratch. Their buttercreams come from cans or tubs—not from scratch. We make everything that we sell. Many local bakeries and online bakeries purchase all or part of the products they sell from other companies.”
“Our commitment to quality ingredients allows us to deliver a superior tasting product. We use 100% pure butter—not margarine, not a butter/margarine blend, not oils. We use fresh eggs—not powdered or liquid eggs. Most of the chocolate we use is bittersweet chocolate; the bittersweet chocolate that we use contains a very high cocoa content so it delivers a pure chocolate flavor—most chocolate used in baking is inferior to this. We use real heavy cream and real milk—not powdered milk products. We use cane sugar, brown sugar or honey to sweeten our products—not corn syrup. All of these quality ingredients help to deliver a rich and outstanding taste experience.”
Black Hound has a large product line including cookies, chocolate truffles & gift baskets. Their goal is to provide the customer with excellent customer service every time.
Go ahead & place an order! You’ll be so happy that you did! Let them know that you heard about them right here…in “A Girl’s Gotta Eat”.
