I received my Little Black Box a few weeks ago & I want to share with our readers some of the wonderful treasures that were inside. In case you are not familiar with the Black Box, this is a program where you can order a box filled to the brim with products (bath & body, home fragrance, tea & the like). A box costs a reasonable $23.50 shipped to your door & it’s a great way to “meet” new businesses without a large investment.
So…on to the box. I’d heard about Sock Dreams but never tried their socks. Ladies, these are winners. Mine are black & go over the knee. They’re perfectly comfy & I will love them in the fall (definitely not in the 90 degree weather that we are experiencing in Chicago).
If you are not familiar with Lollibomb Beauty (formerly Lushbox), you’re missing a great thing. Their Body Frosting in Sugar Rush is to die for. Sinks into your skin & the scent is luscious.
I haven’t yet tried Jaycee Danielle’s lotion but I’m hooked on this one too. Her Aloe & Shea Body Lotion rocks & mine is scented in Cherry Limeade which is da shizz for summer.
Naiad Soap was new to me & I love the delightful sample that I received in one of their chocolate flavored soaps.
Another delicious smelling soap came from Distilled Rose. This one is scented in Jasmine (one of my back in the day faves). It contains coconut & olive oils for extra moisturizing properties.
SBS Teas was recently purchased by a new owner & I’m happy to say that I am just as delighted with their yummy & unusual teas. My samples were in More than Fabulous (black tea, orange & chocolate) and Peach Melba (black tea, peach, raspberry & vanilla). For excellent tea, SBS is a great choice.
Whiff and Sniff tarts are next on the list. Okay…Emerald City Cake is one of my absolute favorites on this entire planet & I received the delicious Orange Juice Cake as well. You can never miss with Whiff and Sniff & if your home needs some fall scenting, you can count on constant sales to entice you.
I’ve been a fan for awhile of Lee Ann’s Soy Candles & the tart that I received in Caramel Apple is spot on. Exact. Perfect. Lee Ann, I don’t know how you do it but your wax melts will forever be at the top of my list. If you want quick & reasonable shipping, Lee Ann is your gal.
Also on the home scenting roster is one of our favorite businesses, La Dolce Aromas. Jamie sent along a wax melt in Creamy Gibson…I can see what the raves are about. Check out La Dolce Aromas for a great selection & check our archives for the feature that we did on them last month.
New to me was a wax melt from Make Scents Candle Shoppe. It totally “makes scents” to order from here. The melt is adorable, has a great throw & the scent in Raspberry Lemonade is outstanding.
I received a soap sample from Soap Crush. The scent is Abama & I really loved it. I can’t find the scent on the Soap Crush site but seriously…you’ve gotta take a look at it. I have to convince them to let Wickedly have ‘em for a feature. Outstanding.
Finally, Ginger’s Garden is last but not least. I received a Soothing Skin Aroma Balm & a delectable White Tea Hand & Body Lotion. The body lotion sank into my skin & the fragrance is elegant.
So…that’s my box. I can’t wait for the next round (August 17th). Indie businesses are the way to go if you want your body & home to smell good. Changing the way the world smells, one day at a time. It’s the least we can do.

I’m pretty sure that I received this travel candle in a sample box recently. This is a huge winner! The scent is Spiced Cranberry & this is a very true cranberry scent. Even though we don’t often think of cranberry during the summer, it’s still perfection in a candle. I can only imagine the happiness that I would have with a larger size. My entire family met Noel Swanson of Idle Hands Soaps today at a fair. We’ll be featuring Idle Hands next month & Noel was generous enough to give my two stepsons each a lip lube. Well, those boys love their lip stuff. One of them said that it “makes my lips feel so smooth & they were all bumpy before…& it tastes good” and the other one said “it’s probably good for your lips & it tastes good but just don’t eat it”. The flavors that they tried were Chai Tea and Spiced Apple. These lip balms are loaded with shea butter & olive oil…you’ll love them!
