Funky & Fabulous!: Cady Taylor Made/Kim Drosdick/J. Treacy Designs - May 31

New funky indie jewels!

Hello all! So I am completely recovered from partying like a rock star last weekend, phew! The weather has been gorgeous so I donned my new little black bikini for the first time feeling fabulous. But my 4 and 2 year old children were the only ones to see the debut! For those of you who don’t know, I recently lost a ton of weight, I’m talkin’ 61 pounds, yikes! So I just started cleaning out my closet. Losing weight can be expensive. Now I’ve had to start an entirely new wardrobe at my new size. But when you buy new clothes you then need new accessories, right? Yes! So I bought a new jewelry box, a large one, & plan to start filling it up with new fab finds…

Crafty chick Cady Taylor loves rocks. Growing up on the beaches of Rhode Island in the summers (brat) she collected them along the seashore. So of course she grew up to be a fab jewelry designer using only the finest gemstones, pearls, glass, shell & wood beads in all of her pieces. Nothing cheap about Cady Taylor Made designs, my friends. All of her necklaces & earrings are one-of-a kind hand-made by Cady.

One of my new wardrobe purchases is an adorable white knee length flowy skirt with flower cut-outs, sequins & embroidery at the bottom in blue/teal hues. So I’m thinking Cady’s Large Turquoise Chip necklace would the perfect new accessory!

And I must tell you about The Bola. Cady designed it after a “traditional weapon” that was a cord with heavy balls on each end “hurled by the Indians and gauchos of southern South America to entangle the legs of cattle and other animals”.

So Cady’s Bola is a necklace made of suede cord with beads at each end that you wrap around your neck. The cool thing is you can design your own Bola. Choose the suede & stones you want! It’s definitely different than anything you’ve seen before so get your conversation piece for only $30 today!

Oh! So if you remember, I wrote about fab jewelry designer Kim Drosdick a couple of months ago. She’s created jewelry for several movies, etc. Well I just had to have a custom made piece for myself & I just have to share it with you all! Kim hand-made a sterling silver band with “I HEART S” (S is for my hubby Steve) & she stuck in a small pink sapphire (you all know pink is my fave color).

How cool is that? & Kim’s opening her very own retail location. So for those of you in Toronto you’ve got to go meet Kim & see (& buy) her amazing jewelry in person! Get going!

I like to write & stuff but I’m not very crafty. Well, you know, I’m not good at painting or drawing, etc. But I love beads & started making simple bracelets on stretchy cord only (clasps & fancy toggles are just too difficult!). So I was browsing at a local bead store when the woman working there showed me how to make these cute rings. Well I’ve been obsessed with making them ever since & everyone seems to love them & everyone’s buying them! So I have to toot my own horn, I know you don’t mind, & show you my little creations…lola’s fave stretchy rings.

They’re comfortable, one size fits all & look a lot more expensive than they are!

It’s time to spruce up your jewelry box, girls. Buy indie. It’s better & a lot more fun.
Have a great week!
