Indie of the Week: The Soap Box Company
The Wickedly Chic staff is devoted to providing our readers with the greatest treasures (many undiscovered by our readers) on the web today. No exception for this week. The Soap Box Company is a terrific business run by the industrious Jen Plummer in Chicago.
I’ve interviewed Jen and asked her to tell our readers about her blossoming biz. She says, “I started The Soap Box Company as an all-natural/organic shop after finding lots of soap makers and small business that were dedicated to providing wonderful bath and body care products. I thought it would be wonderful to bring lots of different soap makers all to one place…so that’s how The Soap Box was created. Over time I realized that more of the people who were drawn to the site and the idea of it started to ask for different soap makers and other small business to be added. So we were thrilled when we started to get suggestions and have now rounded out our site to include not only bath and body products, but try to include other indie products as well.”
Plummer continues, “I always try products before committing them to The Soap Box. I think it’s important to love the products you are selling and I really do! There are so many talented people out there and I’m so happy to have some of them a part of The Soap Box Company.”
We are too! One of the things that I love about The Soap Box, being the addict that I am, is that many of the scents from the small businesses are exclusive to the Soap Box. It’s also fun to order from a bunch of businesses all in one place. And the boxes of goodies when they arrive. Totally decked out and beautiful. Perfect for gift giving. Perfect for treating yourself.
There are so many great products to mention so I am going to focus on some awesome Soap Box exclusives. Anyone waiting for spring will adore the Blossom Sheer Moisture from Callisto Bath and Body. Sweet greenery, orange blossom and pear with grapefruit peel, chamomile, orchid and hibiscus seed make up the gorgeous scent for this lighter-weight moisturizer. Terrific for curing the February blahs.
Also by Callisto Bath and Body, you will find their Creme Souffle in Cocoa Rush. This lush creme is absolute heaven and the scent…decadent cocoa layered with peppermint and marshmallow is amazing. This is a bit of a heavier weight moisturizer but still will have your skin perfectly smooth without being a bit greasy.
I happen to love the soaps made by Villainess and you can find a nice selection of Villainess soaps at The Soap Box. Gorgeously scented and moisturizing is the Prosperpina Soap scented with the smell of currants, cranberries, figs and pomegranate.
Crazy for Chicago seems to be the word for yet another collection…this one from Bathed & Infused. The Chicago Collection consists of three spectacular scents…Lake Shore Drive (a fresh aquatic scent), Michigan Avenue (romantic floral blend sweetened with vanilla) and Oz Park (a sweet green scent with a touch of mint).
The Soap Box has recently added a small but lovely selection of hand mirrors, stationery and jewelry to its blend of products. Jen Plummer has made her business into a wonderful place to shop with customer service and turn around times that are top notch. Don’t miss shopping here. This is a business that you will want to turn to again and again.
