Indie of the Week: The Bubbleroome
We have a lot of fun testing out bath and body products here at Wickedly Chic and testing the products from David Johnston’s Bubbleroome has been no exception. The incredibly talented and handsome David makes the most tantalizing and good for you products in his Brooklyn kitchen.
David started creating his line about 3 years ago when he was having trouble finding a job after 9/11. He lives across the street from a fire station and with so many missing firemen, he felt that life is just too short to be doing something that you don’t love. Purchasing a soapmaking book was his next step and here he is today with a blossoming business.
Now I have to admit that what first drew me to the Bubbleroome was the kitschy feel of the site. Kitschy draws me in anywhere. I’ve been that way since a kid. The packaging has a lovely homespun feel that makes you want to look at the items before tearing into them and making yourself smell and feel beautiful.
One thing that makes the Bubbleroome’s products unique from other bath and body lines is that David not only tries to make his products using the most wholesome ingredients that he can find but he is also environmentally conscious when it comes to the packaging of the Bubbleroom products. The fragrances really do take you back to another time (at least to the Brady Bunch era).
If you are a lover of scrubs, David makes a delectable brown sugar scrub. I love the spearmint and eucalyptus scent. How could anyone not feel energized after scrubbing with that combo? Other scrub scents are lavender & geranium, tangerine & lemongrass and patchouli & sweet orange. Bonus…the scrubs are now on SALE for 15 percent off.
Are you a bath lover? The Bubbleroome has a wonderful bubble bath that is loaded with moisturizing and soothing coconut oil and aloe vera juice. I’m hooked on the Pluck scent which is a combination of ylang ylang, myrrh, orange, lemon, coriander and juniper. There are no sulfates in this bubble bath leaving you with a product minus harsh ingredients.
Old-fashioned cold process soaps are also a part of Bubbleroome’s line-up. You won’t want to miss these although, like myself, you might have a hard time tearing the pretty flowered packaging. Once you do, you will have soaps that will make your day.
The Brooklyn soap slices have two sides, one for moisturizing and the other for exfoliating. Each slice is named after a different Brooklyn neighborhood. These colorful soaps are also on sale right now for 15 percent off. You will also want to check out the new chocolate line. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this might be a perfect gift for a loved one or…for YOURSELF.
Even though David is an Oprah lover, it’s a good thing for the general population that he doesn’t watch her ALL of the time. If he did, he’d be kicking back on his sofa munching on popcorn instead of creating luscious goodies for the bath and body aficionado to drool over.
Come drool with me…I’ll be sailing at the Bubbleroome.
