Indie of the Week: Girls Night Out Designs
Introducing our Indie of the Week, Girls Night Out Designs. Holly Bedard has such a cool business going and Wickedly Chic readers need to shop right here.
This September marks the one year anniversary for this awesome business. I asked Holly to tell Wickedly Chic readers about the type of items that she has available. She tells us, “I create bright, energetic one-of-a-kind jewelry with semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals. I also love to work with glass and vintage Lucite. In addition to the jewelry, which includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings and watches, I also make cigar box purses. These are all made from genuine cigar boxes that I sand, paint and seal myself. The insides are all lined in velvet.”
Holly continues, “I am constantly creating new items and putting them on the site. The most recent update was just last week. And IGm always creating something special. IGve done a lot with custom designs. I love working with people to create exactly what they are looking for. One woman was looking for a piece of body jewelry that she wasnGt able to find anywhere. We worked together, with her giving input down to the last bead, to create the piece she wanted. She liked it so much she bought one for her friend, who I worked with to customize the new piece.”
Ms. Bedard is a New Hampshire native and she is a self-taught artist. I’m so impressed with her jewelry. Quality and totally chic are two words that come to my mind when describing what is available at Girls Night Out Designs. Another fabulous thing about this site is that each item that is created is named after a drink (with a recipe to match). How fun is that!! You can’t find that at a big box retail store. I’m totally in love with this gorgeous apricot necklace…it seems so perfect for those indian summer days of fall.
And how about a drink recipe to match??
Apricot Fizz Pour the apricot brandy, lemon juice and sugar into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a Collins glass almost filled with ice. Add the club soda, stir well and serve.
When I asked Holly her thoughts on where her business was headed, she told me that she feels that mass-produced jewelry is on its way out. Woot! Good news for our indie businesses!!
GÇ£More people are looking for a way to express their individuality through the accessories they wear,GÇ¥ Holly says. GÇ£An independent designer can help them achieve this better than any mall or department store.GÇ¥
This is a lovely site that you will want to peruse again and again. Always something new here with this creative owner. It’s time for a “girls night out” and a new piece of jewelry. Shop here!
